VISITING HOURS:
Daily: 10:00-18:00
Nestled in the heart of Tara Zarandului, Tebea is more than just a point on the map — it’s a powerful symbol of courage, dignity, and the enduring fight for freedom. Here, history isn’t just studied — it’s felt. Visitors are invited to explore the Tebea Memorial Complex, a sacred site dedicated to those who stood up for the rights and liberty of the Romanian people. Among its graves lies Avram Iancu, a central figure of the 1848 Revolution, resting alongside fellow heroes like Ioan Buteanu and Simeon Groza.
Stroll down the alley of ancient oak trees and you’ll come across the remains of Horea’s Oak, a legendary tree under which assemblies and secret meetings were held during times of great unrest. According to tradition, it was here that the first sparks of the 1784 uprising were ignited.
The complex is also home to the Tricolor Church, built at the end of the 19th century, quietly watching over this pantheon of Romanian identity.
Tebea is not just a place to visit — it’s a place to experience. If you’re looking to step into a corner of Romania where history still speaks, this is where the journey begins.
