VISITING HOURS:

Saturday - Sunday: 10:00 – 17:00
Located in the northern part of Hunedoara County, the Ribita commune is rich in natural beauty and historical significance. One notable stop is the birthplace of Crisan, one of the key leaders of the Romanian Peasants’ Revolt of 1784, alongside Horea and Closca.
Born in 1733 in the village of Vaca (now Crisan), Marcu Giurgiu – better known as Gheorghe Crisan – led uprisings in the Zarand area and beyond, standing up against injustice and imperial forces.
The house, rebuilt in 1979 based on a 1934 photograph published by historian Ioan Lupas, reflects the look of an 18th-century rural home. Inside, you'll find traditional objects from the Ribita area, old weapons, and documents related to the revolt.
